Method for Vastu Analysis / Home Vastu Assessment

Vastu Shastra, an ancient Indian science of architecture and buildings, outlines principles for designing homes and buildings to ensure harmony and balance. Here’s a step-by-step guide for performing a Vastu analysis or home Vastu assessment:

Step-by-Step Vastu Analysis

1. Plot and Building Orientation

  • Direction Analysis: Use a compass to determine the exact orientation of the plot and building. Identify the main cardinal directions: North, East, South, and West.
  • Entrance Location: Ensure the entrance is in a favorable direction. Generally, East and North-facing entrances are considered auspicious.

2. Zoning of Rooms

  • Living Room: Ideally, it should be in the North, North-East, or East direction.
  • Kitchen: The South-East direction is considered the best for the kitchen. The North-West can also be used as an alternative.
  • Bedrooms:
    • Master Bedroom: Should be in the South-West direction.
    • Children’s Bedroom: Preferably in the West, North, or North-West direction.
    • Guest Bedroom: North-West direction.
  • Bathrooms and Toilets: North-West or South-East directions are preferred.
  • Study Room: North, East, or North-East directions are ideal for concentration and focus.
  • Prayer Room: North-East direction is most auspicious.

3. Structural Elements

  • Doors and Windows: Ensure doors open inwards and windows are placed to allow maximum natural light and ventilation.

  • Floor Plan: Obtain a detailed floor plan of your home for precise analysis.
  • Vastu Consultation: For complex issues, consult a professional Vastu expert.

8. Common Vastu Tips

  • De-clutter: Keep your home clean and free from unnecessary items to allow the free flow of energy.
  • Water Elements: Place water elements like fountains or aquariums in the North-East direction to enhance prosperity.
  • Plants: Indoor plants, especially in the East and North-East, promote a positive environment.

9. Check Additional Features:

Bedrooms and Kitchens: Avoid placing the pooja room in these areas for purity and sanctity.

Conclusion

Vastu guidelines for a harmonious home interior emphasize creating a space that promotes balance, positivity, and well-being. Here’s a summary of key conclusions:

  1. Spatial Layout: The arrangement of rooms within the home should follow Vastu principles to ensure proper flow of energy (prana). This includes positioning of bedrooms, living areas, and kitchen in auspicious directions.
  2. Furniture Placement: Furniture should be arranged in a manner that facilitates easy movement and promotes harmony. Avoid blocking pathways or placing furniture in corners, as it can disrupt energy flow.
  3. Color Scheme: Choosing appropriate colors for walls and decor is crucial. Vastu recommends soothing, balanced colors that promote tranquility and positivity, such as soft blues, greens, and earth tones.
  4. Natural Light and Ventilation: Maximizing natural light and ventilation is essential for maintaining a healthy and vibrant environment. Ensure windows are unobstructed and allow fresh air to circulate freely.
  5. Clutter-Free Spaces: Clutter can disrupt the flow of energy within a home. Regular decluttering and organizing are essential to maintain a harmonious atmosphere.
  6. Symbolism and Décor: Incorporating Vastu-compliant symbols and decor elements, such as auspicious paintings, plants, and sculptures, can enhance positive energy within the home.
  7. Sacred Spaces: Designating a sacred space, such as a meditation corner or puja room, can further promote spiritual well-being and harmony within the home.
  8. Maintenance and Repairs: Keeping the home well-maintained and promptly addressing any repairs is crucial for preserving positive energy flow and preventing negative influences.

By integrating these Vastu principles into the interior design of a home, residents can cultivate a harmonious living environment that supports their physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.

Love Home Makers Interior !!!I have used this service 3 times, now to design 3 different rooms in our house. I kept buying little things here and there thinking it would pull my rooms together and ended up wasting quite a bit of money because it wasn’t what the space needed. For a minimal fee, you can pick your designer based off your individual design tastes and the various designer portfolio.s. The designer I chose seems to know me and all my likes and I have used her for each of the 3 rooms. I have recommended Home Makers Interior many times to my friends and will continue doing so. They help me see the big picture and take my feedback to tweet the overall design and it’s a very interactive process. They start out by giving you 3 different designs and you rate them and each design feature/object so the designer can get a feel for what you’d like to see in the room, then uses that feedback to create the final design. Of course tweaks can still be made along the way until you have 100 percent satisfaction. Better yet, the products they used in hardware etc. are from well known name brand.Again, highly recommend !!
